I’ve been doing this for 15 years, and I’ve had the privilege of working on some really huge podcasts.
But nothing can compare to the reactions I’ve gotten when I tell people this:
“It’s a podcast about why we love museums.”
Their faces light up. The stories pour out. Field trips, vacations, first dates! Everyone has a museum story.1
On Call ‘Em Like Museum, we’re going to hear those stories … and we’re going to go deeper. To understand what museums do for us, we also need to understand how they run & why they’re designed the way they are.
We’ll meet the people who work in museums and ask them: What should we know about their work? What do they aspire to? How do museums make them feel?
We’ll also talk to experts & academics about the history of museums, the challenges they face, and what they could do better.
Museums are an invitation to create your own meaning. Everyone’s experience going to or working at them is deeply personal & subjective.
